Four Albanian nationals have been arrested in connection with a beach landing in Kent on Monday.

Two men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to facilitate illegal entry after they allegedly drove off with two migrants who landed illegally in St Margaret's Bay.

Both are suspected of being members of an organised crime group operating in the UK, the Home Office said.

A further two men were arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of arrival in the UK without legal entry clearance.

Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick said: 'These arrests show our clear determination to crack down swiftly on anyone who tries to evade capture and enter our country illegally.

'Thanks to the expert work of our teams, we will continue to remain vigilant to illegal activity like this and bring those responsible to justice.'

Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers, including the Home Office's Criminal and Financial Investigations (CFI) team, working in partnership with Kent Police and Border Force, have acted swiftly to crack down on Monday's illegal crossing.

More than 42,000 migrants have crossed the Channel by small boat so far this year after 400 asylum seekers reached the UK on Monday.

According to official Government figures, 2,225 people have made the journey across the 21-mile Dover Straits in November alone, bringing the total for the year so far up to 42,128 in 1,035 small boats

According to official Government figures, skip hire company 2,225 people have made the journey across the 21-mile Dover Straits in November alone, bringing the total for the year so far up to 42,128 in 1,035 small boats.

Monday saw 400 asylum seekers arrive on the Kent coast in eight boats - an average of 50 people per vessel.

At least 100 people were brought into Dover, Kent, on board Border Force ship Hurricane shortly before 11am.

The total number of migrants who have reached the UK this year has already dwarfed 2021's total of 28,526 and the 8,410 who arrived in 2020.

The latest arrivals came as Home Secretary Suella Braverman travelled to Paris to sign a new agreement with French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin to try and stop migrants from crossing the Channel in inflatable dinghies and other small craft.
